About Me

Since I was 5 years old, I have been speaking publicly on behalf of my family in my hometown of Richmond, VA. My great great-grandmother, Maggie Lena Walker, was the first African American woman to found, charter, and serve as president of a bank in America. I have shared her story with National news outlets, the VA General Assembly, the National Park Service, and crowds of hundreds . My early experiences in communications were an early indicator of my future career path.

In May 2019 I graduated from James Madison University where I studied Communications and Public Relations. During my time I served the Office of Admissions as a Student Ambassador offering tours to prospective students and their families. I also spent my Spring 2018 semester in London, England where I completed class credit and an internship in Fashion Public Relations with Wingfield PR.

After graduation I moved to New York City to continue working in the fashion industry. I interned at PR Consulting, working on the Gabriela Hearst, Dries Van Noten, J Brand, and Adam Selman accounts. I then transitioned to high end luxury retail sales at Koio in Soho generating at least 11k in sales each month.

Throughout all of these experiences, I've taken every chance I get to amplify Maggie Walker's pursuit of racial and gender equality. I came back to Richmond in March 2020 for a week of speaking engagements which turned into a seven month stay as the world was forced to pause with COVID-19. I adapted to the situation and used this time to continue Maggie Walker's legacy of equality by working towards the recognition of the fully ratified Equal Rights Amendment with Vote Equality US; sharing stories of the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of VA in an online presence; and contributing to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Board at St. Catherine's School ('15).

These experiences have shaped me into a stronger communicator, change facilitator, and creative problem solver. In the future I plan to take what I've learned and apply it to a non-profit organization supporting education, community development, and entreprenuership in Richmond, Va.
